Paired with a powerful 2600 lumens LED floodlight, the setup not only ensures remarkable video quality both day and night but also offers an intimidating deterrent with its built-in security siren. This package also supports seamless integration with Alexa, enhancing its utility in smart homes. Subscribers can further benefit from cloud and local storage options to save the moments that matter the most. Let's delve into the user experiences to explore the pros and cons of this product.
Pros and Cons
Quality of Installation and User Experience
The installation process for the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera + Video Doorbell appears to be quite straightforward, with many users praising its simplicity.
"As someone who's had experience with other security systems, installing the Blink floodlight was refreshingly easy," one customer noted. "Replacing the existing floodlight was simple as the wiring and setup matched perfectly."
The ease of installation carries over to the app interface too. Users found the Blink Home Monitor app intuitive and capable of controlling various features like customizing motion detection zones and manually switching the lights on or off. The flexibility offered by the dusk till dawn feature, which ensures the floodlight activates during nighttime hours only, resonates well with users seeking energy efficiency and convenience.
Cons
While the installation process is typically praised, an occasional issue arises with users facing limited view coverage compared to previous systems. One user mentioned, "The span of view is what I didn't like. It didn't cover nearly the area that my last system did."
Feature Evaluation: Motion Detection and Video Quality
Video and motion detection arguably form the backbone of any good security system, and here, Blink does not disappoint. The majority of users commend the vivid video quality, citing it as "crazy good." The use of 1080p HD video ensures clarity in both daylight and nighttime videos, with the infrared night vision feature being a particularly strong tool for 24/7 monitoring.
The new person detection feature is an added advantage, allowing users to differentiate between a person and other moving objects—enhancing focus on meaningful alerts only. Users can rest easy knowing their devices will promptly notify them of a potential threat.
"Does exactly what I need it to do," commented a user. "Lights up the area, records when armed, and it's at a very reasonable price."
Cons
The person detection feature, however, requires an optional Blink Subscription Plan. Some may find this additional cost an inconvenience, though the introductory 30-day trial offers a good balance before committing.
Usability and Integration with Alexa
In terms of usability, the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera + Video Doorbell excels with its two-way audio, practical app controls, and Alexa integration. With Alexa's voice command capabilities, users can arm or disarm their cameras, set routines, and stream live video—making it a true smart home device.
"The response time is very fast," a customer asserted, appreciating Blink's performance in quick alerts and fast live view feeds.
Cons
For audiophiles, it’s worth noting that the doorbell requires an Echo device to be heard as it rings. Those without Alexa-enabled devices might find the setup incomplete for their needs unless they invest in additional hardware.
Durability and Power Requirements
Durability is a significant aspect for outdoor installations, and the Blink system scores high in this realm. The need for hardwiring the floodlight camera ironically stands as a strength—eliminating concerns over regular battery replacements. Indeed, those opting for battery-free maintenance appreciate this attribute.
"It's an awesome setup for the price and the way it functions. I don't worry about changing batteries thanks to the hardwired capability," shared one satisfied customer.
The video doorbell, however, does rely on batteries, estimated to require changing every three months depending on activity. While some see this as acceptable given the frequency, others voice concerns about the necessity for battery replacements.
Cons
One review highlighted a preference for entirely wired solutions without the inherent limitations of battery replacement: "I was looking for a wired doorbell so that I wouldn't have to worry about changing batteries."
Conclusion
The Blink Wired Floodlight Camera + Video Doorbell shines brightly—to use a fitting metaphor—as an accessible and robust home security option. Customers across the board laud its high-quality video, convenience of integration with smart home systems, ease of use, and overall reliability. While the subscription plan for person detection may be a mild inconvenience, and the limited field of view a downside for a minority, the core functionality and performance make it an attractive purchase.
For those seeking a blend of simplicity, smart integration, and effectiveness in security, the Blink system is a desirable contender. However, potential buyers should weigh the necessity of an Alexa-enabled device for full functionality and their tolerance for occasional battery changes on the video doorbell. Overall, through user feedback, the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera + Video Doorbell emerges as a great option for enhancing home security with modern technology and features.

Does exactly what I need it to do…lights up area, records when armed and very reasonable price.
This is our second blink system. Easy to install, reliable and so far work like a charm.
The flood light cam was easy to set up and get activated. The span of view is what I didn't like. It didn't cover near the area that my last one did. The doorbell I didn't even bother installing since I was looking for a wired doorbell so that I wouldn't have to worry about changing batteries. This one is wired and requires batteries. Umm no thank you.
So far so good. Works great with my original blink system. Also can turn off/on lights manually with app. I choose to the dusk till dawn feature. Light comes on during night hours only. Video quality is crazy good. With choosing the hardwired option ill never have to change batteries. ... One more feature I like is that I can select how bright the lights go. Very cool!
I loved the fact that when the theif was going to break in my truck, the flood light came on and he/she ran!
I had to go wirefree when I moved. So far, the door bell and flood light have been fantastic. The flood light was a very easy install. Just replaced the old flood light that was in place. Same wiring and setup. No trouble there. The door bell works well but you'll need some kind of echo device to hear it go off. The response time is very fast and the batteries seem to last a pretty decent while. The Flood light doesn't need batteries as it pulls power from the light hook up. The Door bell uses about a new set of batteries every 3 months or so. Which isn't bad considering how much activity it records. All in all, it is a great setup for the money and the concept works well.
