Keeping Your Home Secure with the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera + Video Doorbell Duo
When it comes to ensuring the safety and security of your home, few products integrate technology and peace of mind like the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera paired with the Blink Video Doorbell. Engineered with formidable features such as two-way audio, HD day and night video capturing and motion detection, this kit emerges as a formidable contender in the home security market. Moreover, its compatibility with Alexa ensures a seamless integration into any smart home.
Dive into several customizable features - set motion zones via the Blink Home Monitor app using real-time alerts, or leverage the innovative person detection capability. This means you are only notified of events which truly matter. A noteworthy feature is the 2600 lumens of LED lighting, offering formidable illumination that deters any potential threats during the night. Furthermore, the Blink Subscription Plan adds an additional layer of functionality with computer vision features. Without further ado, let's dive into the pros and cons of this smart security system based on customer experiences.
Pros and Cons
Easy Installation and Usability
Pros
Installing new tech products can often be a daunting task, especially for those not particularly tech-savvy. But Blink shines through with its intuitive setup. As one customer reported, "The Floodlight camera was an easy replacement for the existing motion-activated floodlight. The app setup was super easy." This straightforward installation extends to those who aren't tech enthusiasts, as another user noted being grateful that the process could not have been easier.
It's also heartening to find that once a single device is set up, subsequent installations of other devices are much easier. This cumulative effect seems particularly appealing for users who want to expand their smart home ecosystem gradually.
Cons
However, the simplicity does have its exception. One user mentioned that, "the doorbell installation was a bit more steps. I opted to integrate with the existing home doorbell." While the integration was not due to any fault on the Blink device, those looking to incorporate existing technology might find this extra step a hindrance.
Features and Customization
Pros
The Blink system wasn't only lauded for its ease of setup but also the rich features it brings along. Features such as the motion-triggered LEDs, built-in siren, and high-quality imaging both day and night are recurring highlights. Customers frequently celebrated the camera's ability to send photos to the cloud or save locally via a USB flash drive. After an unsettling event such as a neighbor's truck theft, one relieved customer commended, "They are great quality, and they are super bright," underscoring the robustness of the floodlight.
Integrating into the smart home hub via Alexa was a bonus for many, facilitating hands-free management of the system. Another delighted user also shared the excitement about the "Camera sends photos to the cloud (with a subscription) or to a USB flash drive. Motion detection is very good, camera has good imagery, day or night."
Cons
Yet, despite the impressive array of features, the inability to set a motion schedule within the app was a common gripe. "The only thing I wish the app had was the ability to set a schedule for motion," shared one user, highlighting a universal wish for an enhancement that would bring the product to perfection. Additionally, prospective users should be aware that to maximize certain recording features, a subscription might be a necessary consideration, albeit a reasonable one for the peace of mind provided.
Performance and Durability
Pros
The performance in terms of durability and reliability is another layer where this Blink combo stands out. Customers praised aspects such as the camera’s "good imagery, day or night," complemented by an "excellent motion detection system." Furthermore, a significant selling point is the adaptability of the Blink system to both wired and wire-free setups, offering flexibility for consumers based on their environment and needs.
Cons
Despite generally positive feedback, there are caveats. Notably, while the floodlight camera maintains its praises, issues were noted with the video doorbell regarding response times. “The Floodlight works great. Doorbell is virtually unusable due to delay,” indicated one user, shedding light on a specific challenge that potential buyers should consider, especially if their focus is on the doorbell functionalities.
Final Thoughts
Summarizing the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera combined with the Video Doorbell experience reveals a predominantly favorable outlook among customers. The main pillars of its appeal lie in its straightforward installation, robust features, and compatibility with current smart home systems, especially for those who are currently leveraging Alexa.
It is worth noting that while the floodlight camera continually receives accolades, the video doorbell might appear lackluster for certain applications, particularly in environments where split-second alerts are crucial. However, the option for flexible storage solutions and robust motion detection counterbalance these concerns.
Ultimately, choosing to invest in this dynamic security duo aligns well for any homeowner prioritizing ease of use and integration within an existing smart home setup. Is it an all-in-one perfect solution? Perhaps not quite yet, particularly until app enhancements (such as schedule settings for motion detection) are addressed. Nonetheless, it is a strong contender worthy of consideration, combining innovation, security, and convenience into one powerful package.

Comments from Amazon:
The Floodlight camera was an easy replacement for the existing motion-activated floodlight. The app setup was super easy. The doorbell installation was a bit more steps. I opted to integrate with the existing home doorbell. My current wiring was problematic but not due to the Blink doorbell. The setup was fairly easy to do. Once you set one device the others are easy. Good investment for video security. The only thing I wish the app had was the ability to set a schedule for motion. Other than that I am pleased with the solution. It has been running for a week. No need to contact support so no stars are provided for that.
Like many others, I am not tech savvy. The installation process for the doorbell, floodlight, and sync module could not have been easier. Thank you!
Bought these after our neighbors truck was stolen. They are great quality and they are super bright. Only wish was that the record feature wasn’t an extra charge.
This is a great setup, flood lights with a camera! The lights work well and so does the camera. Camera sends photos to the cloud(with a subscription) or to a USB flash drive. Motion detection is very good, camera has good imagery, day or night. App and the camera are both easy to setup and the camera/flashlight is well worth the money.
Floodlight works great. Doorbell is virtually unusable due to delay.
Connect directly to wifi works great wish I could have bought more
All the blink products work great so far. I would definitely recommend them
